Homemade rasam powder recipe with step by step instructions:

South Indias do not feel fulfilled until they eat at least a couple of spoonfuls of rice with rasam in every meal. There are so many varieties of Rasam.


If this rasam powder is at hand and every Home can make delicious rasam in an instant. We cannot complete our meal without a couple of spoonfuls of rice with rasam. This is a base for all types of rasam.

If we want instant rasam to add rasam powder and salt to tamarind juice and bring it to a boil and add seasoning or Tharaka to it so that our instant rasam is ready to eat. 


The ingredients are added slowly and fry them one by one. Every seed should be fried or roasted to the core, and the powder tastes rich and adds aroma to the powder. 


Using homemade rasam powder enhances the taste of the rasam. We can store this rasam powder in an airtight container or jar for up to 5 months, and it also gives the same taste. It is also easy to make this rasam powder with the correct quantities.

Rasam powder preparation:


Ingredients 

  1. 1 tsp of oil 

  2. 1/2 tsp of pepper seeds

  3. 1/4 tsp of fenugreek seeds 

  4. 1 cup of jeera or 20 grams

  5. 1 cup of coriander seeds or 20 grams

  6. 2 sprigs curry leaves

  7. 30 red chillies 

  8. 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder

  9. 1/2 tsp of hing

  10. 1/2 tsp of salt 


Preparation of rasam powder/ rasam podi

  1. Heat oil in a pan

  2. Add pepper seeds and fry for 1 minute and add fenugreek seeds and fry them 

  3. Add Jeera and fry them, add coriander seeds on a low flame only until they change colour and give out a pleasant aroma.

  4. Add one by one to the pan and flame should be low

  5. Add curry leaves fry until the moisture in the leaves is gone

  6. Add red chillies give a mix and turn off the flame

  7. Add turmeric and hing to it and mix.

  8. They leave out a raw smell with the heat of the pan.

  9. After it is cooled, transfer to a jar and add salt to it and make a slightly coarse powder of the mixture.

  10. Store in an airtight container and don't close the lid after transferring it should be cool while closing the lid.

  11. So that it stays for longer
